PRESS RELEASE
The New Zealand Dalai Lama Trust denied to Director,Producer and Actress Anna
Wilding that it invited Niki Caros film Vintners Luck to screen as part of His
Holinesss official scheduled tour on 5th December 2009. According to press release issued today by the Vintner's Luck
team,Vintner's Luck claims to have been "invited" by New Zealand Dalai
Lama Trust. The Press release also intonates that the screening is part
of the Dalai Lamas official visit to New Zealand however this has been
firmly denied by the New Zealand Dalai Lama Trust.
Director and Producer of the award winning film Buddha Wild Monk in a Hut, Anna Wilding, who met the Dalai Lama recently, is concerned that Niki Caro and the Vintners Luck team are sadly using the Dalai Lamas visit as a marketing ploy to help sell their film Vintners Luck .Anna Wilding pointed out that if ever a NZ film with Buddhist themes was added to any New Zealand Official tour it would make sense that it was the smaller art house and internationally award winning film Buddha Wild www.buddhawild.com, which was partially shot in the South Island ,that qualified to the Oscars, and has played at major art house cinemas in USA and major Buddhist inistutions and film festivals worldwide.
Ms Wilding stated "I have just got off the phone with the Secretary of the Dalai Lama Trust in NZ and they deny inviting the film Vintners Luck,or the fact the Dalai Lama or the NZ Dalai Lama Trust is associated with the press release that Niki Caro have put out for their event." http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU0912/S00058.htm . Miss Wilding, who was invited to speak on the theme of ethics at Cannes Film Festival 2007and World Earth Week in New York 2007, said she was offended by breach of ethics from both a Buddhist and Industry standpoint and on behalf of all the monks and Buddhist commmunity in New Zealand who participated and worked so hard in Buddha Wild.Buddha Wild has been called a 'beautiful film 'by Moving Pictures Magazine and "A Must see Film '.It is currently ranking number 9 in the most watched films section of Indias largest online film festival Culture Unplugged,an event set up in India by Lord of the Rings Producer Barry Osbourne.Ms Wilding enjoyed meeting the Dalai Lama on his recent Sydney tour.
END
If the truth about Caro and her team is not putout, it sets a precedent
that other filmmakers can also behave just as unethically. The Dalai
Lama's team in NZ,the Dalai Lama Trust, have denied "inviting" Vintners Luck or being associated with it.This is unfair to other Kiwi film makers with award wining films and in particular an award winning Buddhist film shot in New Zealand. Caro has 'questionably' received the bulk of funding for many years from NZ Film, causing hardship to others.
The focus should be on the Dalai Lama's visits, and not distracting the visit with a non Buddhist film.
It was another engaging session with the Dalai Lama as he wrapped up his visit to Sydney.
At the end of the final session ,which comprised about 30 people, the Dalai Lama, suddenly and out of the blue, took it upon himself to explain to me directly the intricies and weavings of the Tibetan scarf. It was all very funny. There is no need for me to have a Tibetan scarf....I know the scarf intricately now.Maybe I did before.
In this pic, thankyou Herald Sun,You will see him here in full flight, holding court directly. Amongst the many things told to me about the Tibetan scarf, was the fact it was made in India, China and Tibet ,made in China under authority of Tibet.Three countries, harmony.
The Dalai Lama wrapped up this session reminding the
Leader of the Opposition ,who is on stage with him,and all political leaders to be gentle. He and I had conversed prior to this scarf moment on world religions and harmony.
A funny and warm engaging moment .Cleary he has recovered from any jet lag.
I am still excited a few hours later. It gives me great pleasure to write that today I met the Dalai Lama. I was also able to personally present to him my film Buddha Wild.I was blessed that I was able to meet him. I was sitting just a few short feet almost directly in front of him.(see left).I was shocked and unprepared when he shook my hand,as when I made my film the monks weren't allowed to have any contact with women. It was wonderful, and a privilege and honour to shake his hand and I would very much like to do so again.
The Dalai Lama touched down today, November 30th 2009.His Holiness was in tremendous shape after his long haul flight from Singapore.
CLIMATE CHANGE
His Holiness is in Australia to conduct a series of talks, that start tomorrow, that focus on the power of the individual. However, there seemed to be as much focus on his concern for environmental initiatives and the question of harmony between religions.Speaking ahead of his public events tomorrow the Dalai Lama stated that "universal responsiblity is the real key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace, the equitable use of natural resources and through concern for further generations, the proper care of the environment. " Climate change is a key agenda for the Dalai Lama.
The questions put forth by the press corp were fairly mild I thought.I was bursting with questions,of course. However I had been blessed by giving him my film directly and thought it fair to stay quiet and let others ask questions.I have to trust I shall meet him again.
The Dalai Lama made clear that he was here for teachings that start in Sydney tomorrow, and to attend the Parliament
of World Religions next week. However it took one look in the press kit to know that the issue of China and Tibet were not far from his mind, and certainly not mine, nor I doubt anyone elses. The 5th World Parliamentarians Convention on Tibet ended in Rome on 19th November with the adoption of the Rome Declaration on Tibet. The Declaration Defends the Right of the Tibetan People to their own identity, culture and way of life. It reaffirms the strong commitment to the people of Tibet and to the non violent path they have chosen, under the leadership of the Dali Lama.
The Dalai Lama has made himself fully available to the Chinese Community in Australia during his visit,so that they hear his views for themselves.
I sincerely hope a middle path is found for resolution. I have given it much thought.
For those interested the Dalai Lama kicks off his talks tomorrow with a two day "Awakening the Mind" seminar at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. To purchase ticket for the teaching, conference and public talk please visit www.dalailamainaustralia.org
Peace and blessings.
I have been zapping and buzzing around with my latest acquisition- Toshiba T130 lap top.Super slim, super fast and super light. It pack's a powerful punch in it's tiny frame too.
I understand ,under new blog laws, writers now have to specify whether the product or goods they are promoting are in part advertorial.Readers,I will inform you now that this review is in part advertorial, however, those who know me, know well that I would not even lend my name to a single thing, not a single dot, of something I did not believe in.
This computer is great.I will be the first to admit I am fairly rugged with my computers. Different countries, states, deserts, reefs, airports, xrays, you name it - computers "live it" on my watch.
My last lap top was a tad heavy for all the carting around but it packed the media muscle and drives I required. It did not serve my existing injury at all well.It did however fit on it the small and large applications and programs I needed to be able to utliize at a moments notice.
Upon possession of my new Toshiba laptop I sat down with a tech guy and spent a laborious two hours transferring the hard drive contents from not one ,but two laptop computers onto this computer.Would all the programs and applications fit? Would the computer still be Speedy Gonzales? Well yes both hard drives did fit with room to spare.
As for Speedy Gonzales I am still trying to catch up with him.
Now I can a zap around, with a lightweight feather in my cap, knowing I am in possession of something that has not only" might",but has some of the coolest screen savers built in,thanks to Windows 7.
This computer that opens a door to a new world, a new era in technogolgy, ready to be shared with you on completion of the next film and/or journey.

28 October 2009 - A new charity has launched, the Wilding
Foundation, that aims to fill an overlooked gap in the charity and non
profit marketplace. www.wildingfoundation.com The founder, award
winning actress director ,and producer Anna Wilding said it is a
diverse, exciting and contemporary charity that is also couched in
history. The charity plans to have a event to mark its Official Launch in 2010.
The Wilding Foundation awards scholarships to those
of exceptional ability and prowess in sports, arts, humanities, health,
medicine and environmental activities. The Foundation will support
those who may not otherwise have the financial means and/or knowledge
at hand to further their potential. The charities aims are diverse with
the inclusion of several primary scholarships. The charity is not limted only to the scholarships in its gift giving.Recently it responded quickly and succesfully to the Samoan Relief Appeal through it's own private appeal .
The first scholarship is in honor of one of the world's greatest tennis players ,the Anthony Wilding Scholarship for prowess in sports. Anthony Wilding is a legendary tennis player who, amongst other things won Wimbledon a total of ten times prior to World War 1. He garnered the record for most Wimbledon singles titles in a row for over fifty years. This record was finally broken at Monte Carlo by Rafael Nadal in 2008. Wildings doubles partner, in Davis Cup and Wimbledon was the great Aussie tennis player Norman Brookes. Wilding was the first man to take a motorcycle solo through Europe, his preferred method of travel between tournaments. Anthony tragically died in Flanders in 1915 at the age of 32.
Along with the Anthony Wilding scholarship are awards in environmental, arts and humanitarian fields. The charity accepts contributions from donors worldwide. The Board of Directors hopes to see the charity grow steadily over the next few years.
Anna Wilding, a supporter of humanitarian and environmental issues as well as a gifted filmmaker, has personally experienced what it is like to miss out - of not being able to pursue a chosen direction due to financial factors. Ms Wilding, tipped to go to Wimbledon and join the professional ciruit herself as a youngster could not afford the required training overseas. She hopes that this charity will help bridge a gap for those impoverished who display talent and cannot afford the training, travel, study or equipment.
