Here is a prime example of media blogs and pr companies trying to make situations to their own advantage without researching . I
have very little time to follow any of these matters but this blog recently came to my attention.Again it is in error and again, the media company did not check the facts nor , check with me. Here is the blog..and my response is below it.I note this company, desperate for a story, drudged this news up,though it came out over 6 years ago,not yesterday, as claimed..Its also a good example of the known tall poppy syndrome that exists in NZ.But in a way I am thankful for it as it allows me to respond in context clearly..and it was written with some basic awareness of the media landscape and care, unlike others.

October. Ever had a press release sink like a stone? It can be heartbreaking
when the intrinsic worth and value of beautifully crafted, timely and
interesting key-messages get soundly ignored by the media.
Well our newest heroine was not prepared to take it anymore. After Anna Wilding’s media release was spurned by the Christchurch Press, she took this rejection to a higher authority. Anna has chutzpah in spades. Take a look at the Press Council’s ruling out yesterday.
Case Number: ANNA WILDING THE PRESS NZ
Council Meeting MAY 2004
Anna Wilding laid a complaint against The Press because the Editor, Paul Thompson, would not interview her or publish her media releases sent to him in February and March this year. The Press Council did not uphold her complaint.
Anna Wilding had returned to Christchurch from Los Angeles where she is based. She expected The Press to publish her photos and details of her professional career as a local interest story. The Secretary of the Press Council advised Ms Wilding that the Council had consistently stated that editors were responsible for deciding the content of their publications and that such a complaint was unlikely to succeed. However she wished to pursue her complaint on the basis that other media overseas had published a portion of her press release, proving that it was newsworthy.
Paul Thompson responded to Anna Wilding’s complaint that, as editor, he had sole discretion on the content of The Press and was not obliged to publish any news releases or interview her.
The Press Council agreed with Paul Thompson and saw no grounds on which the complaint could be upheld.

Firstly: I was not "consistently" told by the Council that editors were responsible for deciding their own content.Secondly: What the Press Council, and the blog failed to point out,was the known fact, that the Press Release submitted , contained Information that was supressed from the NZ public by the NZ media, indeed as further evidenced by this matter, that was otherwise available overseas. That being namely that all three Lord of the Rings films were judged questionable in their treatment of animals by the American Humane Association. It was important that this came out so that the NZ public were indeed aware of laws governing film so that what happened on LOTR never happened again and none of the suffering that was caused by it would reoccur.NZ Media did Not co operate.
In
2007, I was finally officially thanked by the studio, including USA Producer of the films, for my humanitarian work on all three LOTR films and prior to that had also been thanked by overseas organisations and authorities for my work. Since that time I have spoken on panels and lectures
worldwide.I was not paid for my work on Lord of the Rings though many
believe I should be.Both New York and London entertainment attorneys put my work and
contribution to the value of USDD 350 000. I will never see it.
Since that time ,in 2009, NZ's AWINZ ,the org that issued false disclaimers on all three Lord of the Rings films stating that no animals were harmed or injured, has been held to task . “ The trustees of AWINZ have subsequently made a voluntary decision, which has been advised to the Minister of Agriculture, to relinquish AWINZ's status as an approved organisation under the Act. "
A private investigator posted a blog here:

Thirdly we also had it on very good authority from one of the syndicated national radio networks at the time that certain members of the NZ media had been told not to interview myself, or riders, or those injured on Lord of the Rings. The complaint I laid was more than justified but probably would have been better served to the Human Rights Commission.I know who told the NZ media not to interview, but I shall not say here, suffice to say, one can but hope that maybe the country is more democratic in its ideals under new leadership. It can be very hurtful when people make false assumptions without checking facts.
As for heroine,chutzpah.. yeah I will take that! :) ..no matter how you meant it..it wasn't the first time it was said .
By the way received some beautiful notes after and during Lord of the Rings
28 October 2009 - A new charity has launched, the Wilding
Foundation, that aims to fill an overlooked gap in the charity and non
profit marketplace. www.wildingfoundation.com The founder, award
winning actress director ,and producer Anna Wilding said it is a
diverse, exciting and contemporary charity that is also couched in
history. The charity plans to have a event to mark its Official Launch in 2010.
The Wilding Foundation awards scholarships to those
of exceptional ability and prowess in sports, arts, humanities, health,
medicine and environmental activities. The Foundation will support
those who may not otherwise have the financial means and/or knowledge
at hand to further their potential. The charities aims are diverse with
the inclusion of several primary scholarships. The charity is not limted only to the scholarships in its gift giving.Recently it responded quickly and succesfully to the Samoan Relief Appeal through it's own private appeal .
The first scholarship is in honor of one of the world's greatest tennis players ,the Anthony Wilding Scholarship for prowess in sports. Anthony Wilding is a legendary tennis player who, amongst other things won Wimbledon a total of ten times prior to World War 1. He garnered the record for most Wimbledon singles titles in a row for over fifty years. This record was finally broken at Monte Carlo by Rafael Nadal in 2008. Wildings doubles partner, in Davis Cup and Wimbledon was the great Aussie tennis player Norman Brookes. Wilding was the first man to take a motorcycle solo through Europe, his preferred method of travel between tournaments. Anthony tragically died in Flanders in 1915 at the age of 32.
Along with the Anthony Wilding scholarship are awards in environmental, arts and humanitarian fields. The charity accepts contributions from donors worldwide. The Board of Directors hopes to see the charity grow steadily over the next few years.
Anna Wilding, a supporter of humanitarian and environmental issues as well as a gifted filmmaker, has personally experienced what it is like to miss out - of not being able to pursue a chosen direction due to financial factors. Ms Wilding, tipped to go to Wimbledon and join the professional ciruit herself as a youngster could not afford the required training overseas. She hopes that this charity will help bridge a gap for those impoverished who display talent and cannot afford the training, travel, study or equipment.
What is it with women and handbags?
Since my neck and shoulder injury I find it nigh on impossible to carry one. I am reduced to a men's wallet ,where possible and much more streamlined and easier it is too. Why do we carry bags? Men don't.They carry a wallet and their keys! Smart -all thats needed. They may succumb to a briefcase occassionally.
Surely we can fit our lipsticks in our pockets, and our womens essentials for that time of the month, and the piece of paper with that latest bill to be paid, and our, and our painkillers for that time of the month and anything else that requires a painkiller, and our mascara when it comes off in a blindingly complimentary fashion when we have been tearful at that cry your eyes out movie, and our..
Really I don't know how men do it..fit it all into one wallet.
I guess the womens handbag is like a security blanket.A fashion statement and useful to swing if needed!
The Wilding Foundation completed a successful private appeal for Samoa tsunami relief a couple of weeks ago.The appeal is now closed on October 10th,as planned. We wish to thank everyone who participated in a positive manner. Please go to www.wildingfoundation.com to help the charity and aid others. There are many ways you can help.
A dear industry colleague of mine took me to see a visiting drag show tonight. It reminded me well of such fabulous artists as Tina Turner...
I really must get into writing more on this blog,as people have asked, but I have been enjoying watching sail boats and exploring new terrain..and still healing from recurring pain on my injuries.I may start sailing again ,if I can, with this sore neck..
Good on Obama winning hte Noble Peace Prize..I did have comments on that, that I wrote elsewhere and too tired to replicate.
"Like A Virgin" and "If I Could Reach the Stars" by Cher courtesy of Drag Queens is still ringing in my ears.
Ah you got ta love them.
Good movie..Bruce Beresford, the director, happens to live just up the road,on the road I am on apparently
