Crossing the Equator by Ship-Summer Winter Summer 2008
I just took in a change of scenery. Wanting a change from flying and still with injuries healing and tweaking- I decided to take a ship across the ocean. An environmentally sound ship - apparently. It was also the same price as flying.
Yes I have now crossed the Equator in a two and a half to three week cruise. There is nothing like being on the open ocean.Gives one pause to all those brave early explorers. It is easy to see why they thought the world was square with endless vast 360% horizons.
In those days the navigators only had the stars in the night sky to guide them.Which is just as well,as the lights emissions from these modern day ships make it hard to see all the stars at all!
But a great experience- a great way to visit places you usually wouldn't on your usual flying routes and a great way to see places you may choose to come back to for a longer period of time.Just make sure you take a good book so you can escape the crowds if a large ship. All in all though a good mode of transport.I used it for that, rather than the holiday.
A new way to get from A to B and the oldest way in the history books.
